A Cliffside Deck Rebuild in McCall
An aging deck torn down and completely rebuilt — on the edge of a steep cliff, in the middle of an Idaho mountain winter. Composite decking and glass-panel railing put the forest views front and center.

An Aging Deck That No Longer Matched the View
Tucked into the pines above McCall, this home had one of the best views in the area — and a deck that had stopped earning it.
The decking was worn and weathered, the finish was peeling, and the heavy log-style railing boxed in the very view the deck was built for. Patching it wasn’t worth it: the homeowners wanted it torn down and rebuilt right.
The plan: a complete tear-down and rebuild with low-maintenance composite decking, picture-frame borders, and a black aluminum railing with glass panels — so nothing stands between the deck and the forest.
Building on the Edge of a Cliff — in the Middle of Winter
This wasn’t a backyard on flat ground. The deck sits directly alongside a steep cliff, which made safety the top priority from the first day of demo to the last railing panel. Every step of the tear-down and rebuild was planned around working securely at height.
Then there was the season: construction took place in the middle of winter, with snow-covered ground and slippery conditions the whole way through. The crew worked with extreme caution from start to finish — no shortcuts, no rushed footing, no exceptions.
And honestly? Nobody complained about the commute. McCall is a spot our crew always looks forward to — and finishing a build like this with snow in the trees is about as good as the job gets.
