An Aging Deck That Was Overdue for a Real Fix
This Treasure Valley home had a raised, covered deck that had seen better days.
The decking was worn, the railing was outdated, and the support structure beneath it had deteriorated to the point where a full rebuild was the only responsible path forward.
What made this job more involved than a standard deck replacement: the existing covered roof — an attached awning spanning the full width of the deck — was tied directly into the support posts. That roof wasn’t going anywhere.

Supporting the Roof While Rebuilding Everything Below It
The Good Vibes team started by engineering a temporary bracing plan to support the existing roof load during demolition. This is the step most homeowners don’t think about — and the step that separates a crew that’s done this before from one that hasn’t.
Once the roof was properly braced, the old deck was fully demoed. The concrete pad was redone, new structural posts were set, and the entire platform was rebuilt from scratch using low-maintenance composite decking — built to last through Idaho’s climate swings.
New black powder-coated metal railing replaced the old painted wood, and a fresh staircase with matching composite treads tied the whole project together. When the new structure was complete, the roof was re-supported on the new posts — correctly loaded, properly aligned, and code-compliant.

A Closer Look
Six Days. A Completely Different Backyard.
The homeowners got a structurally sound, code-compliant deck that looks as good as it performs — composite decking that won’t splinter, rot, or need repainting, and black metal railing that stays sharp season after season. The covered roof that had to stay throughout the entire process? Still standing, properly loaded, correctly set on new posts.
The customers were satisfied and in love with their new centerpiece of the backyard.
